My wife was running the boat on the weekend an picked up a massive amount of weeds. I put it on the trailer and still couldn't get them all as they were wrapped around the driveshaft and through the pump. I pulled the pump and cleared it, but noticed that there is no seal present at the front of the impeller. Luckily the bearings seem fine. The parts diagram for the boat calls for a boot and ring of some sort. The problem is that the driveshaft in the boat appears to have a flange machined into it for the impeller to sit against and there is a groove for an o-ring inside the impeller. I don't think the stock boot will fit because the flange looks like it would be tight to the front of the impeller. In the interest of getting my wife back on the water faster, I thought I would just replace the o-ring and do a full rebuild (pump and driveline) this fall. I have an o-ring kit but it doesn't have one that fits correctly. Any thoughts on where I should look? Finding parts for these old boats is becoming more and more challenging. And if this is an aftermarket driveshaft I could be out of luck.
