1995 xp low compression gets hot and wont start

hello this is my first jet ski and know very little ,so here goes filled up with gas ,filled oil tank with dealer seadoo oil new correct plugs ,took it to the lake cranked fine ,went riding about 20 minutes she shut down and would not start UP engine was very hot, it would try to start though .came home got a hose kit & a little wd 40 fired right up ,but did a compression test rear cylinder is only 30 pounds engine sounds fine ,no smoke ,could this be my problem, why it gets hot ?

got hot, posibly theres a blockage in the cooling system somewhere. Motor might've been good, until it heated up. 30psi, no good, Uncle...take head and jug off, make sure rod bearings ok, if so, maybe hone and new piston...
