Engine died suddenly in the middle of a lake, about half throttle in choppy water. It was suddenly as if the kill-switch had been pulled, but it was still secure.
After checking the kill-switch I tried to start it up again. At first, the starter was turning the engine over , and it sounded fine, but it would not start. Checked the fuel/oil levels, which were fine, and tried again. It kept turning over, but not firing. I feared it was an electrical problem - not firing at all.
Then after only about a minute or two, I hit the start button, but the starter banged and did not turn the engine over. The battery quickly died and I was left floating in the middle of the lake with a whistle and a paddle until a fisherman later towed me to shore (45 minute wait).
Got back to shore and charged the battery, but still wouldn't turn over. The motor seems to now be stuck. Tried manually turning the crankshaft, it seems it will only turn over half-way when forced manually. As if one piston will not go down all the way.
I'm wondering if I have one or many problems now. If the original engine failure was caused by an electric problem, I don't see how it would be related to the engine siezing up like this. Does anyone have any suggestions or experience with this? Or a better method of troubleshooting it?
Thanks for any help I can get.
