Hi, been awhile since I was on here. Last I had the boat out we had 1 or 2 good trips where it started up and ran well on the water. Then we had 1-2 trips where we seemed to lose power and we could see water spraying inside the engine compartment. I looked closely and pinpointed the water coming from the pto boot/seal pack area. Does this mean the seal is bad? I did a "driveline repair kit" from sbt when I got the boat along with a wear ring and pump oil and pump seal. Is it the seal pack? Is that a "carbon seal"?

Is this seal pack different/better than what sbt sells?

I tried greasing the seal carrier but the water was still spraying.

any thoughts?

Thanks!!

the '95 didn't use a carbon seal. It has a seal pack. It's on the end of the boot... where I assume you are seeing the water. If your old seal pack was messed up, and you replaced it... did you inspect the driveshaft?? Since it's the inner bearing, and seal surface... it has to be Perfect. Chances are... the 18 year old drivshaft was beat... and you messed up the new seals and bearings.

Unfortunately... on that system... if there is corrosion... the driveshaft needs to be replaced with the seal pack.

Thanks for the quick reply. I had someone helping me with the boat who was pretty familiar with, I think we thought the shaft looked ok. I guess I will pull it apart again and check it out. Should I try the part from OSD above?
