In the thread "I think boats hate me" I wrote about my boat being totaled by a truck. The insurance company is paying me less than I paid for the boat (only had the boat less than 2 weeks) but they are letting me keep the boat.

The boat was in excellent shape before the accident, shiny gel-coat, good seats and ran excellent, 149 & 151 PSI compression, rebuilt jet, like new impeller and wear ring. 40-42 MPH top speed.

Here is a photo the day before the accident and a photo of the damage to the rear of the boat. I straightened the trailer but it should be replaced. The big question is... do you think I should fix the boat or should I part it out?

Hard to say without being up close... but that point takes abuse when bouncing in the water... and the weight of people when on the swim deck. Also, to break that part of the hull... there is going to be stress everywhere.

My gut feeling is to part it out. A lot of people are looking for boat parts... especially when the parts are clean.

As Dr. Honda says, it's hard to tell without seeing more of the damage. Why not just take it to a shop that speacalizes in fiberglass repair and see what they say? Your situation is a shame, it looks like your boat was in great condition and there are not many of those left in that condition.

Good luck and keep us posted.

I agree with Sportster 717. Get an estimate to repair it, then decide if it is worth it.

You can probably get more from it parting it out, but it would be more work.

If you do part it out, let me know. I need parts and I'm sure there are others looking for parts as well.

I probably could have made more money parting it out, but just to get rid of it I sold the boat "as is." I am sorry to see it go, it was a very nice boat. (sold it to a guy that does fiberglass repair)
