Hello new to the site,
looking at buy a 1995 speedster, I'm looking at one the owner says had it in for check up and found it needs a new intake grate and new impeller.
Is there anythings eles i should be looking at? ie motor damage, overheating. Is it ok to test drive the boat that way? I seller dosen't seem to know anything about it. just that one engine diden't seem to have as much power as the other.
If i replace the one impeller should i replace the other one, oem or aftermarket?
i see and one of the links impellers are under 100$ wear ring about 40$ grate about 70$ is that right?

Thanks for the help, this site is great!

There's a sticky around here, about buying a used doo that can help. It is about Sea Doos, but the twin boats have the same type of setup, just 2 of them.

Some items I'd look at are:

Do a compression test. This will cost you 20 buks at auto zone, and possibly another 7 buks for a plug wrench.

See if it still has the old gray fuel lines. IF it does, they will HAVE to be replaced. They look fine on the outside, but the inside is disintegrating. You will have to remove the carbs, and clean them, and especially the little filter in the carbs. Also, clean the fuel select valve, and pull the fuel baffle out of the tank, and clean the filter on the bottom of it.

What I'm saying is this is a NECESSARY update of this old of machine. And you should just figure it in the cost. If you run it very much with the old lines, you will clog it all up.

Yes , i've saw that posted before, but you didn't awerser any of my mentioned questions. impellers and intake items

Nate has offered some very good addvice as he is trying to save you a ton of time and money. Compression readings will at least let you know if you may be able to get a little use out of it before it blows. Do not trust anyone [not even your mother] when it comes to the condition of engine or boat as we can allways be wrong or some of us will even lie to get rid of something. A stock impeller and wear ring would be ok and you do not have to replace both unless they are both bad maybe as simple as a neoprene seal needs to be replaced. Listen for some good info as you can throw a ton of money at these boats when it is not allways required. I can allways be wrong so do some home work. There are good search engines on the web to find the answers that you are looking for. This site has a good search engine with most all the answers for the questions you will be asking. :hurray:
