I recently purchased a 95 Seadoo XP, and the VTS has recently stopped working. Since I bought it I have run it maybe 2 hours. The VTS was working prior, but I noticed when I was riding it just before it stopped working it started going on and off. I was adjusting it and sometimes it would work, and sometimes it wouldn't. Then it just stopped working all together.

I know when I bought it the guy who sold it to me had metioned that a lot of the VTS systems on that model get corroded from water getting into the box from the outside by the jet. He showed me a little rubber boot that seals it and he said that those go bad pretty frequntly. He also opened the VTS box and showed me that it was corroded and that the seal was worn, but at that point everything was still working fine.

When it stopped working the other day I opened up the VTS box and it did not look any different than it did before. I do not have a service manual for it, and I have never really worked on a PWC before so I really don't know where to start. Any ideas?

Thanks

All you need is a meter. Give this a try. Better check your 7.5 amp fuse first, could be something simple like that. You can check your switch first if the fuse is good. Disconnect BLACK wire, BLUE/WHITE wire and
GREEN/WHITE wire of your trim switch. Using a multimeter, connect probes to switch BLACK and BLUE/WHITE wires; then, connect test probes to switch BLACK and GREEN/WHITE wires. Measure resistance; in both test it should be high when button is released and must be close to zero when activated.

If that checks out good you can test the motor. Install test probes on both BLUE/ORANGE and GREEN/ORANGE wires. Measure resistance, it should be close to 1.5 ohm.

If all thats good then let me know there's another test for the trim module.

I'm new at this, Is the 7.5 amp fuse in the grey box up front by the fuel tank. I can here the trim clicking in the back end by the trim motor but no action. I removed the motor and hooked it up with some jumpers to battery and seem to work in both directions but not when it is connected to its supply wires.

Thanks
Scott

most likely the magnet on the bottom of the actuator, inside the plastic shaft worm gear in the VTS fell off or got stuck. the magnet lets the modual no the position of the vts and will stop it at certain adjustment specs. this causes it not to operate. pull off the cover, take out the motor and pull the vts shaft after disconecting the linkage. the pin on the bottom of the worm gear shaft is a magnet.
