1995 seadoo xp running on one cylinder

Ok i just bought a seadoo recently. The thing will only run on one cylinder. It will only run on the front cylinder when the spark plug from the rear cylinder is removed. The rear cylinder when ran by itself may cough and sputter but it will not fire up. Compression, fuel intake and spark do not seem to be a problem. I'm more of a motorcycle mechanic and i have never had this happen. This is as far as i have narrowed down the problem any help is appreciated.

do a compression test. don't trust your ear. the rear cyl almost always goes bad first. or just pull the head and look. it just has o-rings for head gaskets. but make sure you have a beer nearby-you will probably need it.
