Hello, I’m new to the forum and thank you for having me.

I just purchased a 1995 seadoo Sportster with a Kawasaki 787 engine in it, completely rigged into the boat.

I picked up a rebuilt 717 and I’m planning to implant that in her soon.

The electrical all looks in place, I pulled the Kawasaki CDI box and replaced the voltage regulator.

What does the stator wires run too? There’s 4 wires, 2 black and 2 yellow?

Thank you in advance for any help.

The 2 yellow wires are the charging wires that come from the stator and go to the regulator,,one black is ground,,the other wire,,,black/ yellow is the trigger pickup...to provide ignition pulse.

Happy to oblige.
Hey pops. I'm not really familiar with this site as I'm new to it and find it a little confusing. I see your a long time member. I just recently bought a 96 800 xp and to make a long story short I have been at it for 3 days now. The machime is very clean and in excellent shape. I have checked a bunch of things. When I put the key FOB on I get nothing...no beep, no dash light, just nothing. Battery is good and fuses. Im leaning towards the MPEM . My local BRP dealer is useless for help. They say they don't work on old stuff and that it's discontinued. I see some in ebay but they tell me that I need to get a key fob programmed but my dealer won't look at it. What are people doing. Wish I could just eliminate the key fob safety switch. If I cross out the solenoid it winds over but no spark do to the fact I can't seam to turn the unit on. And help would be appreciated.

Popps sorry lol spell check ;)

I'm bad at electrical,,.the others out here will be way more helpful,..especially the moderator miki,,,did you check the 5 amp fuse in the mpem...if that keeps blowing,,,it is gone,,,and you will have nothing,,,
If you push the start button, without the key on,,,the gauges should power up,,,for 33 seconds,,,indicating the computer is reading,,,mine is totally setup for racing,,,(havasu 04,05),,,and does not have the mpem but has msd ignition,,,i got rid of the dess post and have the earlier style push button,,,love it,,,of course there are no guages,,,but a "tiny tac" for rpm,,,very important to us,,,
Hang in there,,,there is a wealth of help on here,,,

Thanks for your reply. I'm not sure if I posted that so everyone could see or just yourself and a couple others. Electrical isn't my speciality either unfortunately. The 5 amp fuse is good but when I press the start button my dash does not light up. I'd just like to get it running and would love to by pass that key safety fob.

I'll have to check. Actually I have it on the kitchen table now. The mpem says it was manufactured in 2004 so it must of been replaced before. I was gonna try to see if I could test it as in the Manuel but it's a little beyond my experience. I did find a small bit of corrosion on the conection to the box in the cover....cdi maybe. But not much

Sort of hard to be able to get at the box when it's all plugged. Maybe have to run a little jumper wire up where I can test it

I just got a call from the young fellow that I was talking to at the BRP dealer..he said he was doing inventory and found a brand new MPEM box just sitting on the shelf. He's said they were 600and some odd dollars plus tax so he's gonna see what kind of price I can get it for! Also another dealer here has a con pro unit and says he can program the key if it will work. So fi gers crossed

Hey Ted,
Following up on this post to see how it panned out? came across your post by accident here, and hoping for good news or a solution.
I believe i have the same issue as you, FOB on and nothing except some (relay like) clicking from the MPEM and the buzzer as well, when battery is hooked up... 5amp fuses are fine on the MPEM... All fuses are fine.... i have the shop manual and started doing some diagnostic and electrical issue tracing this weekend, i believe the fob post may be an issue for mine (readouts not according to the shop manual), but will see when the part arrives... also got a buzzer, because no sound when applied straight power to it... before this, I had a guy come to my house for FOB programming (as this is what i was told was the issue when i picked up the boat)... he said he couldnt see the MPEM or the FOB on the candoo, and the nav lights dont even come on... so i am sorting through electrical issues... hoping its not the MPEM, but i do see some conversion kits available, and/or could possibly split/rig up some CDI's to replace and bypass the dess... IF anyone has possible remedies, leads, or info that may help, please let me know, or provide link.
Thanks,
James

Hey JimmyGunz, unfortunately I have still not got mine going. My buzzer isn't working but if I give it a wack with screwdriver it works till i try it the next day. When I checked my fob post the readings were correct open when off and closed when on. One beep from the buzzer when i put the fob on and one beep when I press start supposed to be two beeps I think. The relay holder next to the MPEM clicks twice. My next step is to take it over to a shop here in town and try the candoo pro to see what happens. If that dont work maybe buy the MPEM and try the candoo pro again when I press the start button without the fob some dash light come on for 33 seconds and go off. Gages don't move. I had a solenoid switch come today but I haven't had a chance to try that but I'm thinking mine is fine. I cross it out and it winds over.

I'd say your correct in saying your fob post is an issue if it didn't read correctly. Your best case scenario. maybe have to try the candoo again I suppose? I've been told it can't be bypassed but I read somewhere that guys have and im pretty sure you should be able to. May loose some gages maybe. I'd be interested I you find any info on that.
