1995 SeaDoo Speedster Keeps Blowing 15amp Charging System Fuse

I just purchased a 1995 SeaDoo Speedster that needs a bit of love. Ran it around on the lake and everything seemed fine other than a couple leaks I found. After repairing those, I went to set it back in the lake, and the port side engine had lost spark. After investigation, I found that the black wire in between the stator and the Deutsch connector was melted to the point that the sheathing had almost entirely come off. The other 3 wires all had burn marks as well. The 15 amp fuse for the port side charging system was also blown.

I obviously replaced the stator, but that did not fix the issue. The engine still has zero spark, and the 15 amp fuse instantly blows. Only time it doesn’t, is if the stator is unplugged, or the red wire on the rectifier is unplugged. I replaced the rectifier, and still no change. I am beating my head against the wall at this point. Can anyone help?
