Hello All. I am new to the forum and have searched the archives but not found anything specific to my model ski regarding this problem. If there is something similar and I missed it, please point me in that direction.

I have a 1995 Seadoo GTX 650 that was literally a "barn find". Has hardly had any use... and except for some "dry rot" on the seat, the inside and outside look almost new. The previous owner told me that he had used it a few times last year but that the last time out it stalled but he was able to get it to run long enough out of the water to flush the engine. But then from that point on it would only turn over but no longer start. Given the low price I got it for and the fact that I saw it still had gray fuel lines I figured the odds were the starting problems could be easily resolved with new fuel lines and a carb rebuild. Also, the engine has good compression and I was able to confirm spark to the plugs when I bought it.

This weekend I completely removed and cleaned the fuel tank, replaced the fuel filter, replaced the fuel valve, ran all new fuel and vent lines and rebuilt the carburetors. I also confirmed correct position of the rotary valve. As expected during the process I found green "goo" in many of the lines and a green syrupy fluid in the carburetors. The fuel valve was also completely clogged with a red gooey substance.

Once I had it all back together I filled the tank with fresh pre-mix (the unit had the oil pump block off kit installed by the previous owner), primed the cylinders with a small amount of fuel and tried to fire it up. Sure enough it ran for a few seconds and died. I repeated this process 2 more times and it was looking promising. Then, when I tried it the fourth time it wouldn't start at all - it still turned over but would not start. I checked the spark and sure enough... I now have no spark to the plugs.

I would like to start by checking the fuses but cannot figure out how to get the MPEM box out of the unit without removing the entire fuel tank and lines again. There seems to a number of posts and info on the web on how to do this for other models (bring it up and over the gas tank) but the GTX does not seem to have the same clearance as other models. Any advice on this step would be helpful and any advice overall on tracing this problem is also appreciated!

Thanks in advance!
