Just got this ski from a friend. Starts and runs smooth at low speeds up to 75% throttle . Pulls hard out of hole. Once revs are up to about 75% or running 75% max speed, engine cuts out to about 25% power, then lights back up and pulls hard again to the same 75% point. (no throttle change on my part) Going slow to max speed does the same thing. Goes all the way up to a point and then cuts out. Won't run above 40 mph without cutting out but revs great to than point. Not sure if it is a fuel supply issue or REV limiter issue. Seems fuel, due to how hard it pulls and the revs it hits at take of. Feels like it has a speed limiter more than a REV limiter. Ha-Ha. Any advise where to start checking?

Any luck with this problem. I have a 96 XP that does the exact same thing. If I switch the fuel selector to reserve then I can reach full power. I changed all of the gray fuel lines and cleaned the in-line fuel filter along with both filters in the carbs. I also pulled the fuel selector and made sure everything was clear.

if it works well on reserve, it is either the fuel valve, or the anti-siphon valve on the end of the fuel pickup tube in the tank.
