I have a 1994 SPX that I just recently took out of storage after about 8 or 9 years (It ran fine before I put it in storage). I rebuilt the carbs, cleaned the gas tank, replaced the fuel filter, changed the gray fuel lines, put in new spark plugs, new fuel supply check valve, new battery, etc... After all the work the Sea Doo started up right away and was running fine in the driveway.
I took the boat to water. I started it while it was on the trailer (boat was dry) and pushed it in the water. It runs beautifully, just like when it was brand new! Great! BUT...if you turn off the motor it will not restart in the water. Put the boat back on the trailer and pull it out of the water...it starts right back up! My Sea-Doo is allergic to water!
I have pulled it in and out of the water 5 times now and it runs perfectly every time for as long as you like -- you just can't turn it off in the water and expect it to restart. What could cause this? I read the other threads here and saw a common recommendation to check the compression. I have not yet done this (will do tomorrow), however I do not think that this could be my problem since the boats performance and speed is not affected in any way.
