So I could really use some advice or help here. I went to crank over my boat for the first time this year and noticed that there is a major issue. The rubber boot that is covering the rear drive shaft that is held by two hose clamps is twisting when the engine turns over and the grease zerk casing is also turning.

I believe I need to replace the needle bearing...?

Can anyone give some advice on how to remove the driveshaft and any other wearable parts i should change while messing with this issue?

This is all new to me but I am pretty mechanically inclined...

If you let the seal pack rust to the shaft... you will need a new drive shaft too. The drive shaft is the inner bearing race... and of it's not smooth... it will just chew up the new bearing.

Since the pack is turning... once it's apart... you will need to check the mount for damage. There is a high probability that it's been broken from the hull.
