I have a 1994 SeeDoo model 5814 GTS PWC and the steering cable needs replacing. I can not figure out how to remove the half ring fastener that is on the water side of the bulkhead. The plastic half ring spins but it does not seem to loosten anything. I have chewed up the half ring and they to need replacing. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks - Tom

Cable

You have to loosen the nut on the inside of the hull then push the cable to the rear so you can remove the metal ring and plastic half rings and rubber seal on the outside of the hull.

Thanks Dennis, so if I have removed the inner nut and it is way up on the cable to I guess it needs a little force. Now I am assuming the half nuts are a way to water proof the bulkhead connection. I hope they did not use 5200 on it!

Nuts

It's not unusual for the cable to get frozen where it goes thru the hull. I take a pair of vise grips and put them on the metal housing of the cable, on the inside of the hull, and try to rotate the cable back and forth in order to free it up. When you install the new cable........install rubber seal, plastic rings and metal ring on the outside of the cable and then tighten the nut on the inside of the hull.
Good Luck, DAWG

Thanks again. now that I know it is suppose to come I will go ahead and get it out of there. I did not want o make it worse.
