Hey Guys....I am a noob to the PWC world, but an avid boater and have restored many sailboats, whalers, etc. I picked up what I think is a bit of a rare SeeDoo today for $350 here in San Diego. It is a 1993 SeeDoo Explorer Bombardier and I am excited about this restoration project.

It will need a motor and at the moment, I have no idea where to start...any direction initially from guys that have experience will be very appreciated.

I think these may have been underpowered initially...so I would really like to do this right, power it with ample "go" and turn this into a cool vintage beauty. I will take photos along the way for posting.

Your thoughts, insights, and comments would be very much appreciated. I am starting from scratch...this is my first PWC!

Best,
JB

Hey thanks, Obietheprosoccerguy....

If it had a motor, I would be all over it! I need advice as to what to do for a motor...haha!

Thanks.

I believe your boat originally had a 587 if you want to put the original engine back in try PM'ing minnetonka4me. I know the later explorers had a 717 which was 85hp vs. the 587 65hp. Since you don't have a rebuildable core you might want to consider an upgrade.

To be honest I have never done this and I'm not sure if it's even feasible, I'm just throwing it out as a possibility.

Lou
