What exactly have you done to diagnose your problem. Replacing parts can be costly, and it might just be a bad wire connection.

From what I've read, all the 587 engines from 89 thru to about 94 all used the CDI (capacitor discharge ignition) systems. There is no multi purpose electronic module. Just a simple ignition system with a rev limiter.
Yooper, look at the system you have. If your ignition module has 5 wires, a black wire and a white/black wire to your coil, a black and black/red wire from your magneto with a black/white wire that doubles up to your rev limiter and the model your looking at to replace it with has these same 5 wires, then chances are, it will work.
The only incompatiblity I can see in the older skis are those after 1995 and the DC-CDI ignition system.
Scot says it won't work. I see he has older skis also. So, if he's seeing something I'm not, I think he may be able to clear this up for us........it could be just a plug type not the same........:cheers:
