Mpem?.......
The ski isn't equipped with a mpem (multi-purpose electronic module). The models before 91 actually had three seperate components for running the enigne.
The ignition module, rev limiter, and the rectifier (not counting the mag).
The models before 96 combined the ignition and rev limiter and called it an electronic module.
The MPEM's came out in 1996, when the first DESS systems were being tried and installed.
The mpem serves several more functions than the older ignition systems before it. It receives information, processes that information, controls the rev limiter and ignition system and also, keeps someone from stealing your ski!....
I thought that might be nice to know.
In the older skis, as long as you have a coil from a 587, doesn't matter which year, you can swap it out.........just about all these parts were very simple and easy to cross over.:cheers:
