Hi I'm a noobie waverunner owner having some problems with the starter in my 92 seadoo sp. The problem began last season when trying to flush the pwc out after using it. It refused to start, giving only a short ugly click, then humming. Because it was the end of the season I gave up, had the waverunner winterized and stored. After bringing it out at the beginning of this season I took out the starter and solenoid to take them to a repair shop to be tested. They told me the solenoid was bad and there was nothing wrong with the starter. After replacing the solenoid and putting the starter back in, I still have the same problem, only now the engine will crank but only once in a while. I just replaced the battery and this had no effect. I've only been on the water once this season and when the waverunner started it ran perfectly, as usual. Half the season is over now so I'm hoping someone will be able to tell me what some possible causes are for this issue so I can finally fix it. Thanks in advance!

Welcome to teh seadoo forum...the "wave runner" is is actually a seadoo sp.."wave runner" is Yamaha. I would check the ground cable going to teh engine by the starter. It needs to be clean and making a good connection.
Let us know how you make out.

Ok, the black cable that goes from the starter to the negative battery post looks good, as does the red one that goes from the starter into the electrical box. Is there anything else I need to be looking for? Is it possible that they were wrong about the starter and there is actually a problem with that?
