1992 SP 587 Dies after 10-15 minutes

So I've got a 92 sp 587 white motor.
Here's my issue, the ski runs great out of water hooked up to a hose, starts right up and seems to be functioning properly. On the water the ski starts runs fine for about 10 to 15 minutes then suddenly shuts off like it's out of fuel or has no spark. Then it takes about 10 to 15 minutes of cranking until it finally starts again but will then only go for about 80 feet and shutoff again. I rebuilt the carb a season ago and also changed the pickup tube and added a filter to visually see fuel reaching the carb. Any ideas? No overheating buzzer either? After rebuilding the carb it ran great for about 2 or 3 ours of fun on two separate trips. Suddenly third trip the thing dies.

I assume either the carb is clogged or clogging?

Carb has incorrect fuel to air ratio?

Overheating crank bearing which slowly seizes when it gets too hot? (Only reason I even consider this is because of the misalignment between the starter and flywheel mentioned in a previous post)
 
Does the ski still have gray fuel lines or did you change those out before you rebuilt the carb? Did you use a genuine Mikuni kit and follow the carb rebuild sticky post on this forum? You should probably remove the inline fuel filter if the ski has the stock filter usually located under the front cowl.
 
I don’t think the 92 had gray lines.
Remove the aftermarket inline filter.
Check compression.
Make sure your gas tank vent is working correctly.
 
if it is overheating and seizing the crank then i think you would be able to hear the engine turning over very slowly while you are tryng to restart.

Check the spark plugs for color. if it is a carb / mixture problem you may see something.

How does it run in that 10 minutes before it stops? Lots of power?

I like the gas tank vent issue mentioned above, When the engine stops try removeing the gasoline fill cap and then put it back on. See what effect that has.
