1992 Seadoo xp

I recently bought a 1992 Seadoo xp. The previous owner did a dual carburetor to a single carburetor conversion. He said he had it running last summer out of the water, but in the water, it bogged down after five minutes of use. He said it would need the dual carburetor set up, but if he had it running out of the water and five minutes in the water, wouldn’t the carburetor not be the problem? I have four years of auto shop experience and I’m a tugboat captain. But as far as PWC go, I only know the basics and I can’t seem to figure this out and I need help.

They can run on single carb but you need to make sure it’s the correct size and all the jets and settings should be verified to be the same as a newer SP with the same 580 engine and single carb.

I would also check compression, 150 is perfect and shot at 120.

Running out of the water will really tell you nothing other than it runs.

I just cleaned out. The single carburetor made sure everything was correct and it is and it still won’t start. It turns over and cranks, but I’m not sure if it’s getting gas or spark. Is there anything else that could be?
