1989 Seadoo SPI Yellow Motor

I got a 1989 Seadoo SPI with a Yellow Motor thing runs great in the driveway on the hose but I put her in the water and she goes 5mph wide open but she idles fine in the water strange and it smokes alot to wide open and the motor stays cool to the touch even after running it for an hour thinking it may have been bad gas

make sure nuth'n in pump housing/assy, also, check wear ring clearance from impellor blade, no more than 1mm
