I have a 1988 seadoo gt. I have been trying to start it out of the water but it just wont turn over. i charged the battery but whenever i try to start it the solenoid just makes a loud clicking noise. Please help!

solenoid...

Slim....remove the plugs and grey shield from back, then turn the PTO counterclockwise, should spin freeley.
If so, then follow battery cable to box, in there, where connected to, you'll see 2 post. Jump that post, thick gauge wire, screwdriver...etc. If it wants to fire, then solenoid bad, the thing with post on it.

Darn...ruff spots arent good, think'n starter, but you can turn it,...spray wd-40 in it, or marvel mystery, then rotate sum, maybe just rust. then jump it (solenoid)

Jumped

Well i jumped it but i really dont know if wanted to fire or not. The first time i jumped it, it sounded like it tried but then the second time it just made a whirring noise

Slim...your with the acorns right....Boss, think you need to go thru that motor...with try'n to start, might've damaged the rotary valve, one could've fell inside casing, man...there might be some serious issues, stud

Acorns

Timmy now that i looked at a diagram closer they were in the cover that the hose of the air silencer goes into. Im new to jet skis and im dont know all the parts yet so. But i was also talking to my uncle who had them in storage for those 8 years. He says the engine might be frozen up because of how long theyve been sitting there.

Hey Slim...hop'n your battery is charged, try to start again, with button, jump'n idea, since it kicked, maybe knocked loose, if wont kick, then solonoid bad, but also, that starter didn't sound good either...Starter is under the exhaust pipe/manifold..3inX5in round body

Update

Well i think the battery doesnt hold a charge. i charged it yesterday and when i came back today and tried to start it, the solenoid just clicked and nothing happened. So i charged it up and tried again and it seemed better then yesterday.it tried to start but it cant (this is with the plugs in). I think i the whirring was happening because it wasnt getting enough power. How do i know what kinda battery it needs though

For now, hook cables from your car/truck (with it not running) to the ski, and then try to fire it up. Need to find out if solenoid bad/starter or both is bad.

Next Update

OK I tried it with the starter in with a car battery and and the solenoid didnt click. Now im sure the engine was trying but i needed to know if this is the starter

If it is do i still need to take it out and try to start it?

Starter

Ok im having a hell of a time getting this starter out. I got the first two bolts out but i have no idea how im gonna get the last one out. I couldnt get the exhaust/ manifest out so ill keep trying.
