Whats up people. Had a couple of heavy weights on the boat yesterday, just didn't react the same as always. While leaving the dock the boat swung around and hit someones swim platform ,damaging the gel coat and it looks like some of the fiberglass. There is no through hole, but there is a jagged sratch through the gel and into the fiber . Just trying to see what I am looking at for this type of repair?

Here is a picture. I have 2 quotes ,each for $400. Right above Georges head is a piece of mesh that can be lifted with a little pressure, so the fiberglass is damaged. But it is not through the boat. The gel coat is really jagged as you can see. Is this something I can do?

Thats not too bad. I had a gash that was about twice the width and twice the length. I fixed it very easy with the gel cote repair kit. I havent had to do any fiberglass work though. Yours doesnt look too bad from the pic. Is the fiberglass actually ripped loose or just a tiny little piece sticking up?

I hate to give bad advice, but if it was just a tiny edge sticking up and not a hole.....and it was my boat. I would try to use some type of glue to glue the little piece of mat down then just gel cote the whole area. When the gel cote hardens, it is rock hard and will fill all that in.

I am curious what the shop would do for $400. Did they explain how they would fix it?

Check this video...maybe you can do it yourself.

Nice, but read some of the reviews. I think this is for simple scratches in the gel coat only. I have a little glass lifting. So I am not sure if this is the exact help for me. But thanks anyway.
