any one know the nm required for the gas struts on the engine bay cover?

found thread......

I just replaced mine yesterday and everything works great. I bought two gas struts from www.spdhardware.com, the part number is SPD-GSNI-2800-60. The original factory struts are 50 psi, but I jumped up to 60psi. The extra 20 pounds (10 on each side) is not a big deal and I can still close the hatch without a problem. Plus it opens very well on its own when you pull the release latch. Its up to you if you want to upgrade or just go with factory pressure. Hope this info helps!

I ended up getting 2 from eBay. I can give you the link if needed?

I'm still having a hard time sourcing the small front compartment latch though. I sent you a PM Deven.

just got new struts from "struts r us' in Nerang Australia. got the engine cover ones done @ 60 and the compartment one @ 120. he has everything there just waited while he made them up for me. cost just over $100 for the three, i'm happy with that....
engine cover ones working good, lost the small pin to hold the strut, so i have track down a spare some how.

Thanks everyone for the past posts and info

Good work! Can you give me the contact details? What was the measurements for the front compartment strut?

God dammit! I just fitted my new 50 pound struts and it hasn't fixed the problem. The engine cover now releases from the latch and pops up about an inch. It's as if the struts just don't have enough force to push it past the breaking point. Waste of $70

bad news about that.....
i had 60 put in works great, should be still working at 50? nothing else stopping it from lifting?
check the pressure is right on a scale....

I ended up going to the same bloke you did and got all 3 struts replaced. The trailer is having brakes put on it so I haven't fitted them yet but I'll let you know how it goes.
