I’m restoring a 1997 Speedster. I need to replace one impeller and both of my pump housings are plastic and have damaged vanes. I was thinking of replacing my current small hub pumps with new large hub pumps. I have read that the large hub pumps are a little better performers. If I have to replace them I may as well upgrade as well. Any experience with this?

Your pump should be a 140mm so no, you can't upgrade to the larger 155mm pumps.

Thought I was clear. I'm not talking about the 155mm pump. There are two versions of the 140mm. Large hub and small hub. From what I have read they are interchangeable but would require a different impeller, because of the the internal hub size. There must have been an improvement in the the latter large hub 140mm pumps or why do it. Just wondering how much as it would be a little bit of a pain. That said since most of it needs replacing anyway might as well get the latest and greatest.
I'm just looking for real world experience and can tell me performance gains or pitfalls.

PS: If I sound Bitter I just got told my other parts are stuck in customs.

I have only see two 140mm pumps, the aluminum ones on the early hulls and the plastic and brass ones on the newer skis. You can't interchange them as one goes into a plastic shoe on the hull one one is sealed to the hull with silicone. And they use the same impellers.

The 150 pumps did come in a small and large hub pump with the "plastic" ones being a larger hub.
