I have a 2001 Challenger twin engine 14'. I am trying to remove the battery. It does not want to come out with out removing either the exhaust manifold, the bilge vent pipe, or the oil tank and strange foam covered Styrofoam cube. The manual has no procedure. I am wondering if the previous owner put an oversize battery in it. Any suggestions?

I have tried to insert a picture here, but just get a spinning wheel on the upload file manager

Not my boat, but exactly like mine. There is just no room for the battery to come out without removing something.

Here is a picture of another older twin engine boat. Notice there is no bilge vent pipe in front of the battery or large foam cube. There is actually space for a second battery where my foam cube fits. Not sure if this is a design change or if the owner removed the items. Anyways, this battery looks simple to remove compared to mine.

I always just remove the spark plugs and slide it out over the head. My boat is a bit bigger (18') but the engine compartment looks the same as in your second post.

My sparkplugs are no where near the battery,
Here is my boat. I had to remove the battery shutoff just to get to the terminals on top of the battery. This is as far as I can get the battery. Behind it in this position is the bilge vent tube preventing it from tilting it any more. In front of it is the foam cube preventing it from going more forward.

I slide mine back and pull it out between the pipe and muffler. Hence the need to pull the plugs. Think I have a different set up, sorry.
