Not sure if anyone has tried this before but my speed sensor went bad on my 1996 XP. I bought another one and it fixed my speedo but I thought I'd mess around and try to fix my old one and I have something that seems to work. I bought a generic speedo sensor for a motorcycle, I got 2 of them for $10 off of ebay. They are waterproof and made to be mounted down by the front wheel of a motorcycle so I think they will be safe on the Seadoo. Then I drilled a hole right through the old sensor and glued this one in place. The mounting plate on mine is in bad shape and one side of the paddle wheel support is cracked so I'm not going to mount this one on my ski but I have connected it to my harness and when I spin the wheel the speedo moves so I think it's promising. If anyone tries this, let me know if it works on the ski.

Yes, that's what the motorcycle speedo sensor is too. You mount a magnet to the front wheel and mount this sensor to read it each time the wheel turns. It has 3 wires just like the original sensor, B+, B- and sensor.

Ok, but I think that our sensor is another type, because It males a wave Signal, nota pulses. Also one wire is for lake temp sensor. I think that this isn't going to read properly, but maybe we can find the right type of sensor.

There are multiple types of speed sensors depending on year/model. The one on the 96XP is a three wire and does not have a temp sensor...
