10 hr. inspection vs. Winterize..

Hi, got my GTX in late summer & I just passed 10 hrs and I'm ready to draw the season to a close.

I don't foresee the need of doing both a 10 hr. inspection and Winterization, since the Winterization includes just about everything in the 10hr insp. and then some like fogging, anti-freeze, etc.
On top of that, the intercooling system on these models (2008) don't require much of a winterization to begin with...
Am I offbase ? Does anyone have any recommendations or know if the 10hr. inspection is mandatory to validate my warranty? I want to come prepared to the service-dealer so I don't get sucked into paying double for nothing.

Thanks!

Winterization verses inspection.....

I think that is a question for the dealer, I hate to say. Because you know his answer is going to be one that makes him more money.

Because winterization does not cover changing the oil, I think I'd have the 10 hour service done by them, then come into the forum and learn how to winterize yourself. It's not hard. Hell, most of your cooling system is closed loop!........I think I read somewhere that they get about $285 for winterizing!.......to keep from having anything for the dealer to fall back on it your motor blows, I'd get the 10 hour sevice done................

Hey Snipe,
Yep, the 10 hr. service is required by BRP. As it turns out the dealer is just going to charge me for the winterization (which includes a Oil change). But include the 10 hr. inspection as a part of it, since there is no way I'm going to pay for essentially the same work twice.
They charge $189 for the winterization, not including parts (oil, not sure what other parts are required). for a total of around what you suggested, $280.

In the future I would like to do the winterization myself since there isn't much cooling system work to take care of, as you also suggested. If I can change the oil on my car, is it simple/similar on a SeaDoo?

I am not sure....mine had the 10h service at 8 hours. I hope its not a problem...I have just over 80 on my RXP now and I don't see any problems with it. I got a good one from the factory though....mine is faster than most of the other ones I have come accross. The only things faster than me are RXP-Xs and one of my buddies who picked up a 'prototype' RXT and its fast as hell. I don't know what the hell the difference is....I think it has a higher boost cause this thing runs like a champ!

10 hour service......

The 10 hour service is all about CYA........because, if you don't take it in and something happens to the engine or SC or SCIC if you have it, then guess what, your the one footin the bill.

Wal Mart sells the oil vacuum pump in the marine parts area. I didn't notice the price but it's at Walmart, so it can't be that much. You stick it in the tube and suck all the oil out. Hold the throttle all the way down (puts it in drown mode, keeps it from starting) and crank the engine over to get more oil to come to the sump, then pump the rest out. Change the oil filter and fill it back up, your done!......that simple.

Be careful with the plastic tube. We had one 4-TEC member that dropped that tube in his sump.....so, be careful while doing this. Make sure, nothing can come apart.

I just got mine back from the shop. They performed both the inspection and winterization (which is really also an inspection) and the work order says "10 Hr. inspection" on it so I'm covered for warranty.

To the others, I would try to do the same thing in which you do your season oil change along with the 10 hr. Unless your a lucky SOB & your season doesn't end, then you may as wait for the 10 hrs to hit before doing it...
