I got screwed. By Surf and Turf Power Sports in NJ. But dont worry they closed thier doors. Sales wise it was great (thanks Ed) . Thought I got a good deal with a Yama Ski trade in for my new 2008 Challenger 180. Service sucked. The day of delivery the boat was uncovered parked under a tree. There was so much pollen then never even washed it. Hooked the battery up and that was it. The pollen stained all the white leather seats. Disgusting. Got it home realized the cover on the engine was never put back on. Guess they checked the oil and had to remove this cover and it just sat there on the side. First trip out the stereo busted. I only put 5 hours on it all summer. Was too busy with life. Then when i took it to anotehr service shop to get winterized they told me I had stress cracks all over the back decking. I took it to Surf N Turf and thier first responce was BRP wont cover stress cracks. This was clearly a defect so I got a lawyer involved. As soon as I mentioned that BRP changed thier mind. However, they had to send the boat off to a body shop. 2-3 weeks later Surf and Turf closed down. Never paid the bill to the body shop. So my boat sat in the lot nearly 7 months. I basically got free winter storage. A month ago I was able to talk the body shop into releasing the boat to me since I had nothign to do with the work order. Good luck to them. When i got the boat back the radio was missing. Surf anf Turf took it out to get it replaced and since they closed never got the new one. So I went out and got a replacement for $160.00.

2 things to learn from this....

1-Just be careful. With the economy the way it is, many companies are closing. I can assume boat sales are down due to people loosing jobs etc. In many areas like mine there is only 1 Seadoo dealer withing 100 mile radius. Think about where you can go if things dont work out for them

2-any 2008 Challenger owners. Take a look at your back deck. Look close for stress cracks. Not sure if mine was just a coincidence but the body shop said there was hardly any fiberglass on the back deck. Obvious defect.

Here is a rule of thumb...people are human, and sometimes if you look over someones work you will find that they mess up big time. Before I take delivery of anything...I look it over real good. If it wasn't up to your satisfaction, then have them make it right before you accept it. The Vinyl seats and the engine cover are good examples of human error. Both can be taken care of but I know the aggravation you went through...it's a new toy and it should be delivered without having to check out everything...but it happens. The stock radio wasn't that good anyway and is better replaced with something better. I have a brand new take out from my 08 200 speedster from when I replaced my stereo...It sits in my garage shelf because nobody want's it. The gel coat did get repaired and it sounds like you might have better luck this summer...go have some fun. If you let the earlier problems get the best of you, you will never have fun in your jet boat... We all feel your pain. Thanks for venting...

I feel ya...

When i bought my 07 180c from JETWORLD in CA..worst purchase, they didnt go through the details, advice..screwed me for the "extended warranty"...engine blew in august of 08...took it back, they said it was "my fault" i said **** them..took it out..filed a claim against BRP, took it to another dealer and im picking it up tomorrow..new engine under BRP warranty..

seadoosnipe, don't mean to throw this thread into another subject, sorry seatys501. I'm a newbie and didn't know how to get ahold of you snipe, I wanted to ask you, What is the advantage going to riva washers over the ceramic, is it just the overall breakdown percentage, do you go with synthetic oil when you have the riva washers, is synthetic better for the motor overall. If you replace with ceramic and use the right mineral oil what is the difference. When its time to rebuild the charger do you get the whole kit or do you just inspect and replace the washers. Does the kit come with everything you need (shaft, bearings) trying to get an idea of what I need to do the job, I looked at manual from forum on charger and it looks like there might be a couple of special tools needed to do the job. When I looked at the parts list the charger kit was around $300, does that seem right.. Do you know what the around about total price would be to do the job with parts and needed tools and does the kit come with the right washers or do you have to pick them up also (ex: riva's) price of the riva's I saw where around $100, does that seem right.. Before the charger is pulled do you have to extract the engine oil. On the manuals page I did not see a supercharger section in the 2006 sportster manual, so I went on the 2007 4-tec manual and found the charger instructions, is that ok to use, are all the chargers pretty much interchangeable. I know this was alot of babbling but I'm just trying to get a hand on what I need to do for the job, thanks
