I am looking at adding some 8" 2-way speakers just to the rear of the driver and passenger seats up about the height of the top of the seats. It looks like the hull definitely has the depth as long as I keep them far enough down and it seems like an excellent location for cutting through the wind noise.

What I am concerned about is what I can't see in terms of hull structure. Looking into the hull from the access behind the rear side cushion there is fiberglass hull stringer just to the rear of that area but I can't tell how thick it is or if there is another in front of it. Does anyone on the board have hull blueprints or layout info for the 2008 230 SE hull?

Any other recommendations for additional speaker upgrade locations for the 230? I have already upgraded the 4 stock locations.

I was able to use a cellphone to take pictures from the hull access the front if the driver and passenger consoles looking down the in side of the hull and from the factory speaker locations. I can confirm that there are no hull structure or component issues with the location I described.

I have installed my Pioneer TS-MR2040 speakers and JBL MA6002 2-channel amp. 22" back from the console and 5" down from the top of the hull proved to be a perfect location to center the speakers. Before music was inaudible if driving with your head above the windshield. Now at less than 50% volume I have clear, rich music with deep bass in the same situation. I am really pleased with how it turned out!
