For those of you who have seen my posts I have been busting my hump on this boat to get it to like new condition. So far I am about 90% there but I have one issue to address that I didn't really anticipate nor did I know I had until I started using the boat every weekend. Its one that really sucks, lol
Port Motor is using Oil. I use 1/2-1qt per weekend which is about 1 tank of fuel.
Port Motor is using coolant (sometimes). Some weekends it never moves however last weekend it was 1/2 gone in overflow.
Port Motor has oil residue up as high as the supercharger, while the starboard is dry.
I see no signs of oil and coolant mixing. If i did i would think one or the other would be increasing in capacity. I believe the issues are separate problems.
Engine runs perfect, same as the other one. Starts and idles like new, same RPM as the other. No smoke...etc.
More info. I found a worm clamp around the Tstat housing only on this motor, not the starboard. Previous owner said it blew the hose off. Maybe its not sealing correctly sometimes? Should i get new Tstat housing on order?
Bilge looks murky. Def has some oil and or coolant mixed in it. Its really like a hazy water color. When I turn my bilge pump on manually you can see the outlet port is not pumping clear water, but its also not like i see motor oil in it either. Its hazy like diry river water. I dont see a large rainbow surrounding my boat on the surface of the water when it pumps out. However i do see some oil. Maybe its because the motor has oil leaks and its residue, unsure.
Unfortunately this is nothing i am fixing this boating season while boat is on the dock. I continue to check the levels and add until Sept when i pull the boat and bring it home.
Thoughts?
Coolant -> Rideplate drain screw leaks? T stat housing replacement?
Oil -> Supercharger seal? PTO Seal? Just do it all?
