I was in the Florida Intracoastal and sucked up a bunch of seaweed that looks like pea pods (I couldn't go around) and with all the cavitation I think it affected my cooling system and the end result is that my starboard muffler looks like this (pictures). I think it has a hole because the engines run perfectly but exhaust smoke comes out of the engine bay immediately upon engine startup. This muffler is discontinued. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Also, I think this also caused a water leak because my bilge pump couldn't keep up and the aft section swim platform was dipping towards the waterline when I was trying to put it on the trailer. A visual inspection of the hull shows no holes or cracks so I'm guessing the water cooling system was affected and is leaking?

Thanks!

It should have given a long overheat beep once this started happening which is a good time to shut the engine off and remove the debris from the pump.

Your muffler is probably fine. They can take the heat other than the coating but the rubber hoses and plastic in the exhaust system can't. Start it on the trailer and find the exhaust leak. Should be able to replace the damaged parts and connectors and you will be good to go.

Sadly some previous owner messed up the beep speaker. I can just hear the faintest chirp when I put the DESS key on. I guess they liked to keep it quiet. I never heard an overheat beep :( so I guess it's also time to fix the speaker.

Good learning experience. Now we can all see how the jet pump, exhaust cooling, and exhaust temperature alarm all work together. When nothing goes wrong, nobody learns anything!
