One of the speakers is blown on my Challenger and the other is crap. Most of the threads I've read on here suggested any number of 6.5" speakers but it appears the Clarion's currently in my boat are 6". It looks like the selection of 6" speakers is limited and expensive compared to 6.5".

Is it worth it to shave off 1/4" around the circle to fit the 6.5"s or just go with the 6". Anyone have a somewhat idiot-proof way of taking off the 1/4"?

Thanks,
Mike

You need to find out the Cutout Dimension of your boat/installed speakers..

Most of the 6.5 inch speakers inside diameter cutout dimension is between 5-5.15 based on my extensive research..

Thanks guys. The cutout is not large enough for the 6.5" Sony's I picked up. It looks like another 1/4" would get them in there. Also looks like the screw holes would be about 1/4" off as well where is why I'm assuming the Clarion's are 6".

I'll have a look at the kickers. They're really reasonable as well. Thanks!

Actually the new Kicker speaker is the KM600, which is a 6" speaker. So it should work good for you and only 75 a pair.

Foster, If you are talking about Kicker KM6000 then their

Mounting Diameter: 5-1/8"

I'm not sure which Sony speaker he tried... But most of the 6.5 inch speaker diameter is between 5 - 5.15

P.S. Foster, I can't wait to see your new boat sig..

The kicker will fit in a 5" hole...even though it says 5 1/8......thats what i had in my boat. A 5" hole saw was perfect.

Couldn't find the Kickers in stock at a normal store at a reasonable price so had to resort to ebay. 2 speakers, $65 shipped, installed this weekend. Sound great! Had to redrill as the holes didn't line up exactly but no problems besides that.

Thanks guys!
