05 RXT won't start

I have an 05 RXT that will not start or turn over. It does kind of "click" towards th front part of the engine compartment but no actual noise from the engine itself. I bought a new battery which reads 12 volts on the meter and 11.4 when I try to crank it. This being out of my leauge I got a friend to help who said he bypassed the cilanoid (Spelling) and the boat fired right up and ran for about 15 seconds with no problems. However when I hit the start button it still won't start. I have read some of the other threads and figure it may be the cilanoid or the safety switch. All the fuses appear to be good. Since I am not the best when it comes to mechanical trouble shooting I was wondering if anyone could point me in the right direction. All advice welcome.

sounds like starter solenoid if its clickin but you might wait for someone elses reply

It was the solenoid. I changed it and it fired right up.

hey guys i have a 2006 seadoo islandia im knew to this boat and i also have a clicking noise coming from my compartment only on 1 motor.. the other motor starts right up where is the safty switch that i heard about? and do you think my solinoid is bad also..

I had the same problem on my 05 rxp, had the starter relay replaced and have had no problems starting it since then...

I have two 2005 GTX 155 HP 4-tec.I gad no problem when I purchased the ski and after 1 week when I tried to go to the lake one of the machines gave me couple of clicks and then it started .Now all I get is clicks and no starts.The click is coming from the solenoid.If I unplug the wires to the solenoid the click is not there.Can it be that the solenoid does not pull in hard enough? I can jump the starters red leads and it will start .I charged the battery and still no more starts exept from those clicks.Any help will be greatly apreciated.

Now ,after 3-4 tries on pushing the starting botton I am getting that click on the solenoid and a "check engine" on my instruments.Checked all wires and they are well conected and clean .The inside of the engine compartment is very clean.
All help apreaciated

sounds like a weak battery, the 4tecs need a strong newer battery to work properly.

I put a new solenoid on it and it started right up.Now that I have two of those 4 tecs I just purchased an extra solenoid.
