No, though it sounds good, the 4-TEC super charged, intercooled engine is a super high performance engine. If he's already talking about this and that with it, then I'd wonder exactly what all the problems are.
That year had a problem with dropping exhaust valves due to using the hollow sodium filled rods. The clutch washers on the chargers were also ceramic, which would dissolve and spread through out the oil system, which would not just cause you to replace the washers but you'd have to do a complete clean out of the engine and it's oiling path.
I'd stay away from this purchase and honestly, for the small amount of performance gained in the supercharged versions of the 4-TEC, I'd stay away from them period. The N/A 4-TEC is a monster in it's own right, with speeds around 70 mph and less maintenance because there is no charger.......:cheers:
