05 Challenger 180 SC IC.... submarine move. Anything to worry about??

I'm sure this question has been answered somewhere, but I couldn't find it for my boat. I accidentally sub'ed my boat after trying it with no "real" results; until I put my "big" brother in law upfront.... MAN that thing went under. I immediately turned the bilge on and kept most of the water towards the front of the boat. I noticed that there was obviously lots of water in the engine compartment... What concerned me was that the intake hose to the charger was under water. IS this a safe move in freshwater?

Also... with the Alabama humidity, I've notice LOTS of condensation in the engine compartment even a day or so after being off of the water. Should I open the hatches to allow it all to dry each and every time I go out? Or does it matter?

THANKS!!!

Don't let the water suck into your engine, the water would hydrolock the pistons and bent the crankshafts.

Ok...first to admit I'm of the older mind set, so maybe this is beyond my understanding..... BUT... my answer to your, " Anything to worry about", would be:

Yeah!, I'd be worried...Worried about the mentality, (or lack thereof), involved in "intentionally trying to swamp a boat with no real results"....
(big brother in law aside, it sounds like you tried to sink your own boat several times before you actually pulled it off?)

I mean this is a boat, something you paid good money for and care about, right?.....I'm trying my best to understand why anyone would want to swamp/flood their boat, their engine compartment (where electrical components, relays wiring and air intake systems all live)..... ON PURPOSE?....

Seems foreign to someone(old fart) like me who spent a lifetime trying to stay on top of the water and protect the inside of the boat from the ravages of the sea. To me my boat is my baby, a part of me,.... I would no more intentionally swamp her than I would take a new Corvette out and fly her off a dirt jump in the desert,...

You're not the first guy to post about the sub move, and I know it's a more common move on jet-ski's...But...can you please explain what pleasure or fun is derived from intentionally swamping a boat?

Sorry about the preachy, and BTW yes, I see you have a Vette, I have a 98 C-5, triple black conv...I just don't get this sub move thingy...

I've seen where numerous members have successfully executed this move, and from what I have read, most haven't had any mojor issues with submarining, with the exception of a broken reverse gate... and that was on a bit larger boat. Even Dr. Honda pulls a sub move from time to time...

I understand that there is some risk... but I would like to know how much. I too LOVE my playtoys and worked hard to get them. But I do like to play with them... haha. The fun comes into play when the front of the boat dips under and it really gives me and my passengers that "HOLY SH*T" factor.... I'm a fan of that I suppose. haha... So... other than a broken reverse gate, has anyone with a supercharged boat had any major issues from pulling this move from time to time?

Don't let the water suck into your engine, the water would hydrolock the pistons and bent the crankshafts.

I know I don't want that to happen... so IF I pull this move again, I'll shut her down till the water is drained below the intake.

slowbrah...you're right, it's your boat....what ever blows up your skirt is fine by me. However, when I watched that OMG Sub Move linked above, I almost threw-up...I can't tell you how OMG glad I am... that was not my boat....(and yes I'd have every hatch cover every possible ventilation hole opened for quite some time to get rid of all that moisture)
Besides, ...at my age me and my friends can get the holy shit factor just by going out for Mexican....

Have fun, I'll try not to be so crochety! nd remember...You'll be old some day! ;-)

Happy boating, John

Hahaha.... it's all good John. Thank you for your input... I too am surprised that Dr. Honda hasn't had any negative effects on his boat after diving that deep!
