04 speedster revs up to the limiter

On take off one of the motors on my 04 speedster revs up to the limiter.
The other motor hits about 6500 to 7000 rpms. So I replaced both of the wear rings as suggested bay a member. Now I still hit the rev limiter on that motor but it isn't as bad. So there must still be something wrong. Where should I start?

Are they supercharged? I'd check the impeller of the supercharger on the engine that isn't fully reving and see if it'll turn freely by hand.

I peeled back the boot on the driveshaft and put a light on top of it. I can see the light shine through the hull under the boat. I take it that this should be an air tight seal. Is this the carbon ring everyone talks about? I

Yup... sounds like your carbon seal is starting to go.
