Hi Im new here I have worked on so many craft in my life and this one problem I am haveing on my 04 Seadoo gtx 4 tec super charged has got me stumped. Ok first off It has 150 hrs on it it has had the SC washers replaced at 72 hr oil has been changed at normal intervals has new spark plugs impeller houseing impeller impeller bearing with all new greese wear ring. This unit was bought in late 03 when I went to get pump parts they were not the right ones turns out this thing has a 03 pump in it ughhhh. Well the problem im haveing is the engine seems to be locking up at high rpm its weird. Ok this is what happend I put new impeller and impeller houseing and all new bearings in took out the craft for 10 minutes was being nice to it to wear in the wear ring nicely well I hit it WOT once to see what the diffrence was in speed from old stuff to the new then when it was at top speed it went from 65 to 35 and I was still WOT then I let off the Throttle and it seemed like the engine locked up completely. I tryed to restart and it wouldent even turn over. I got to a pier finally and took the seat off to see what was up then I noticed a crap load of water in the hull and after seeing that I was like oh crap need to get this thing out NOW! LOL well I tried to start it it was kinda hard turning at first then it just started right up after siting for 10 min so weird well then I idled it for about 20 min back to the boat slip it ran perfect idleing but as soon as I would rev it up to 4,000 rpm or more it seemd to lock up but if I let off it would continue to idle there no clanking or anything that would get from a blown motor u know. I even took off the back of the pump and let the driveshaft hang there and it still seemed to do that lock up thing at 4,000 rmp or more out of the water. So anyone know what this problem could be ?? Anything wear out on the drive shaft that could cause this??? Please help Also can anyone tell me where to get info to take the Drive shaft out on these new 4 strokes? Thanks JON

Weird?......

It does sound weird. Are you getting any codes or do you think it's running hot?

When all this is going on, how does your oil level and viscosity look? Clean?

It almost sounds like your losing your boost on your SC or your motor is taking you down to the protected "min revs" mode for some reason. But it seems it would throw a code if it did. Or at least give you some idea from the info center as to what was going on.

I'd have to let a mechanic on the 4-TEC's chime in here. The basics on these babies is about all I can do. With them being so high tech, practically everything is locked out of the hands of a "shade tree" mechanic because you have to have the VCK (vehicle communication kit) and the B.U.D.S. software and computer, before you can even begin to guess. If you are losing boost, it would show up in the B.U.D.S. program.
