03 GTX problems driving me nutty

03 GTX check engine, low oil

Hello all
I have a 2003 gtx with the 1495 cc engine.
Yesterday I had the check engine light come on. I stopped checked thing out, nothing.
Today I'm out, went about 5 miles and I get check oil on the screen, annoying beeping and in limp mode. Checked oil, Fine.
Start driving back. If I go over about 4k r's goes into limp mode. Once I got near the ramp I opened it up and It ran fine. Decide not to press my luck and loaded it up.

I'm not an expert at this, but if you have oil in the tank and your getting a low oil light you might want to test the oil sending unit. It could be that the low oil is telling the computer to go into limp mode to avoid damage.

Do the oil sending units usually just go bad or can it be hit and miss.
working one min and not the next.

I'm just saying I would use this as a start point. As for stats, I cant say. don't just look at the sending unit itself trace the wire back to the junction box. Mine had a little corrosion on it. I unconnected it cleaned it and put it back together with dielectric grease ..
