Hello everyone,
Have anyone have problems with the main relay 278001783 on 03-04 gti le rfi?
If you had, what's the symptoms and how can I check that part for any issues with it? Thanks

I call that box the Holder Relay. That's what they called it on the 1996 GTX. Did you check the fuse? If that relay doesn't work the ski will do nothing when you hit the start button. I just worked on a 2003 DI that was getting 2 beeps but when the start button was depressed nothing happened. It ended up being the fuse. Ski started right up after is was replaced

I had issues with the MPEM on my 1996 ski. If I inserted the key and this unit you are asking about, if the coil pulled in the ski would turn over and run. It was an intermittent problem. The Relay wasn't bad but it wouldn't get power. From what I understand on the older skis, and it may be the same on the newer models, this "holder relay" was put in place so the battery would not discharge when the ski wasn't running. Basically it cuts power to the starter circuit. If you test it, don't put power to the wrong side, the thin wires on the little coil short out immediately. I'd look for another issue if I had problems. Make sure all the plugs are clean and making good contact. Good Luck !!

Hey, thanks for replay.
My issue, I insert the key and get 2beeps, I can hear the fuel pump activate and a click on the mpem.
But hit the start button and nothing. I bought a start botton even the old test good, 3 stater selenoid, different harness with all connections clean and grease, rebuild starter, extra ground from engine to battery. I came down to 2 things;
Main relay (cut off switch). Or
Mpem.

Are you getting power to the starter solenoid? You may have a bad starter solenoid or a bad ground on the starter. I'd suggest jumping the solenoid to verify the stater is working properly.

If that doesn't solve the problem pull the plugs off the Computer one at a time gently and verify they are dry and not corroded.

Check that solenoid and starter by jumping it out. I use an old pair of channel locks. Remember you're not trying to start the engine just make sure the starter will spin. If you haven't yet, download the repair manual and get familiar with the wiring diagram. Good Luck !
