Has anyone had an issue where there LCD guages just stop working? I have checked fuses, etc and it appears that the guages may be defective. If that is the case where is the best place to buy it? Could this be due to some other component failure as well?

Thanks

Fuses?

A lot of the time, it's not the fuses, it's the connections. Go to each plug in line to that system and pull the plug, inspect and put the back together firmly with a little squirt of die electric grease inside on the connections. If you look in the connections, you may see green or white corrosion looking stuff. Use a good CRC cleaner on them, then put back together.
Those gauges aren't cheap!

02 Seadoo 4Tec gauges not working

I put the voltmeter on the leads on the connector in the storage compartment that connects to the Gauges as you had pointed out and I am getting 12 volts. Looks like the gauges then...:ack: Is this a common occurence? Does any one know what might cause this so i can prevent this in the future????

Thanks

What two wires do you check cause I am having the same problem but I bought a used lcd (hat was said it works and was tested) and no different result if you are not getting power there and all the connections look good what could it be? There is a test you can perform on the wires coming from the gauge to see if the gauge is good, but i dont know how to do it just heard about it. Any help would be greatly appreciated. By the way the one i have did have the double fitting on the intake pump snap and fill up the hull with saltwater.

Thanks,

Hess, in the guage area the purple wire+ and the black wires -are the power and ground. The seadoo must have the lanyard plug in to have the guages active, oe they won't get power. The next thing to check is the actual sender sensor unit for restiance. If you need info on the tests let me know.

Hey KustomKarl,

Funny thing and I am not sure this is good...When I ran the voltage test I did not have the Lanyard / key plugged in but it was getting voltage through the wire?? Is there a test I can run on the gauges themselves to verify they are good?

Thanks

No, I have tried to do the same. I hate giving up the ship on old gages (so expensive) because they don't work. The gages use resistance to operate. They use the circuit of power/ground for them to send the signal to the guage face. You shouldn't have any power to the gages with out the dess lanyard present. The gages will have power for like 30 seconds after the lanyard is pulled off the post...than shut down. Full time power will draw down the battery. Check out why it is drawing power, if that is the case...Always use a multimeter to check for voltage, so you don't do an oops and short something out, checking in the wrong direction. The meter will just reset...no harm done.

thanks Kustom,
Understood. I did use a multimeter, I misspoke.
Hey Hess, the color of the wires on the other half of the connector (when pulled apart) where black and red (red went to purple and black to black) I will post when I find out why i am getting power when I should not. Good luck

02 Seadoo LCd gauge

Mirage & KustomKarl,

Mirage: The old gauge had about 2 cups of water in the back of it. I found this after I took off the back seal. So i ordered a used one that they say works cause they test them when they get them in.

Karl: I will try that test, if you could please let me know what the other test is and where the sender unit is located. Is it the ECm that costs like 1200. If so is it possible to just replace that connection.? Or will you have to buy the whole thing. The funny thing is the speedometer works which runs off the same cord from the ecm. If im correct I think the ecm has a wire run from it to the front of the hull in the compartment under hood and then it connects and runs up to the gauges????? I will go and test this in the morning. The hull was full of water after the double fitting broke in the hull coming from the water pump to the engine. But i would think that if this had to do with the ecm wouldnt it fry more than just that connection.I pulled apart that connect and it looked like brand new. Still had grease and all. Thanks for all help.

02 SEadoo Gtx DI LCD Gauge

I tested the inlet power and it has 12 v. But i also noticed while looking at the new used gauge that the red low fuel light lights when it initially tests the gauge in the beginning(when first connecting the lanyard). but nothing else comes on what could this be.\?

I just reinvestigated my problem and realized that the gauge works but it looks like the contrast is turned way down. I know its not anything to do with the ski cause i plugged it into the other ski(i have two exact same skiis) and it did the same thing. Is the gauge bad or is there a contrast adjustment that i dont know about?

I didn't think it had a contrast adjustment. I'll check the manual and see what I can find.
