Starts right up then revs like crazy?? It only does it some times when it is out of water on trailer?? Any ideas help please!!!! I've been boating for years but am new to the seadoo thing.

Possibly adjust your idle needle. The ski sounds different in the water then the on the trailer. Does it come off of the rev at all?

There are many threads on this happening. Most happen when people clear out the pipe on shore. I know that air leaks after the choke plate will cause a motor to rev up. What is your idle in the water? Should be about half than out of the water.

It just started doing it.Sometimes it will start up anf idle down. Others it revs up like no tommorow.I haven't put it in the water yet as I want it running right first.

Haven't put it in the water yet. when I pull the choke out while it is doing this it will idle down a bit but as soon as I put it back in before the motor dies it takes off again. Should I set it in the water on a trailer and see what happens then??

Runaway engine...

There is many reasons for this but the most common is running lean. The next most common reason is sucking air, leaking past a gasket.

When your in the water, the pump will torque up and keep the engine from running away. But, you should be careful on land because an un-controlled runaway engine can melt plugs and pistons. Once the cyliner gets so hot, even killing the ignition will not shut it off. The best way is to use the choke......

I don't know if it would be a runaway as it does it right away when you start it. It sounds like an air leak. It could be between the carb and the manifold, or the manifold to the case. Also, have you done anything to the ski prior to this happening? Take the carbs off to clean? Fuel lines? Anything? Some more info might help get closer to one thing.

Carbs.....

I think you might need to check to see if you have a carb sticking on you. You might need to take the air box off for a better look and working room.

All you need to do is pop off the sync bar between the carbs and roll each carb cam by hand to see if one of them is really super stiff........

The dry bushings on my MAG carb have stiffened up on my twice and caused my throttles to stick, similar to what your experiencing.........

Excellent point snipe, I forgot I had to grease mine before they went back on my new motor. Also check to make sure your cable isn't sticking too.
