I have owned this ski since new and have it serviced annually at local dealer.. this spring on start up it was missing 1000rpm.. now runs only 6000 to 6070. The ski runs and starts fine except for this missing upper rpm range and now runs only 52mph as it did run 62mph before i had it winterized which included rave clean and sta-bil added to gas.. When i started it a few weeks ago I usually let it clear out the fogged cylinders before installing new plugs...it ran 52mph before and after the new plugs. As i stated before starts and idles just fine---just no top speed. The dealer called seadoo and they said check fuel press. all was normal. I ask the dealer about fuel filter and they stated filter only in the fuel pump located in the fuel tank--replaceable as the whole fuel pump --660.00 dollars. I believe i read on this site about filter replacement at the injectors or?? I am car savy, but am stumped on this injected motor. The engine is smooth with no vibration, so i believe the injectors are performing correctly.. the ski does seem to have a slight miss a WOT, but is hardly detectable except in smooth water...it just won't achieve 7000 rpm since being winterized last fall. I have added some lucas injector cleaner and 5-6 gals of fresh 91 oct. fuel with no change in performance. (Dealer recomended 87 octane reg. as they say all other fuels have alcohol and is bad for the motor) I have always run only 91 octane and seadoo XPS synthetic oil only. I know there are some great minds on this site and i hope some one has experienced a similar problem. Any help will be greatly appreciated. Thanks, Dean

Dean, first off that seadoo GTXDI is suppose to run on 91 octane fuel. The dealer is wrong on the alcohol in the fuel. The correct oil is XPS DI Synthetic injector oil. Have you replaced the spark plugs? NGK ZFR4F is the correct plug gap is 1.1mm or (.04in). I would check all the connectors to be sure something isn't loose. The dealer should be able to connect the GTX to the B.U.D.S.,(Bombardier Utility Diagnostic System) to see if any sensors are not working or is sending a code. Is there any indication of a code or anything? I never recommend adding anything to the fuel but to simply just replenish the fuel with fresh fuel. I have heard lots of problems with the air compressor that the GTX uses to optimize the fuel. If something isn't working it should show up in the B.U.D.S. software. The fuel filter screen is in the fuel tank but it is able to be cleaned. The system needs to be de-pressurized before it is taken apart. With the concern of the dealer not recommending 91 octane, I would look for another dealer to deal with. I'll do some checking around to see what I can dig up on the seadoo to help the problem also. Keep us posted if you find out something too.

Hi Karl

thanks for the reply and as i stated the plugs were replaced with the correct NGK plugs gapped to .040 and looking at the gas pumps here in Ks. they say oxgenated fuel with 10% alcohol on mid and 91 grades for emission control, though i have never had a problem before and there has only been 91 octane put in my Di. I am not familiar with this compressor you speak of and will try to learn more about it. There also no maint codes. Thanks again, Dean

Do you have a seadoo shop manual? If not here’s an idea for you. You could join as a "premium member". As a premium member you can down load a authentic seadoo manual from the seadoo manual library. In the library is a variety of manuals for almost all years and models. You can view as many as you like on line as a PDF file, or download it and print it for your personal and private use. There are operator manuals and repair manuals for you to do your own repairs on your seadoo. The repair manuals have everything from troubleshooting, repair procedures to winterizing. It contains wire diagrams torque specs and pictures for disassemble and assemble instructions. In the spec sheets it tells everything needed to maintain oil changes, spark plug gaps, carburetor rebuilds and impeller wear ring tolerances. Click on the "Seadoo Manuals" link at the top of the page for more details. If you need any help or get in a jam, we are always here to answer your questions too. Premium members get priority when it comes to getting quick detailed answers.
I'll keep digging for a repair too.
