‘02 GTX-DI hull leaking

Hull takes on water when it’s floating.

I replaced the carbon seal, wear ring and boot. No water coming through from there.

I have the ski hanging from a Davit over the water, looking for leaks. I found two around the penetrations for the OPAS linkage. I sealed those and they no longer leak.

I think I found the leak, but I don’t know how to go about sealing this up.

On the “carrier plate” (don’t know what it’s called, but it’s the plate that the pump attaches to via the 4- 1/2” studs)

Directly above the lower stud on both the left and right side there is a 3/16” - 1/4” hole in the plate. Nothing attaches to this, they are some type of outlet. The one on the left side has water from the hull dripping out, the right side has no water coming through. I can see light through each of these passages.

Anyone know what these passages are for and how they seal?

I assume you pulled the pump in order to find the problem. Does the pump cover that hole when it's installed? Can you insert a coat hanger through the hole and see where it pops out inside the hull? Perhaps some kind of hose became disconnected from there. If not, I imagine that you could fill the hole with silicone, but I don't know why there'd be a hole there, unless it's assumed that when the pump is installed, it seals the hole.

The pump does not cover the hole.

After closer inspection it has a hose connected from inside. The hose has a rubber boot that appears loose around the hose inside, I’m going to use rtv silicone and see if I can seal around it. But water exiting the hole may not be an issue, if it’s coming from the attached hose.

I haven’t removed the intake grate, there may be penetrations there that need sealing.

Can you post a picture of the hose? Check the Service Manual for the routing diagram of the cooling system. It may be one of those hoses.

I have gone from moderate rate leaking to just a slight leak, and it’s only noticeable when the ski sits in the water. I took it out for a 30 minute ride, returned and parked it on a ride-on dock, with just the slight slope on the dock, the water inside the hull was out of site at the rear. When I leveled the ski, I have about 1/4” in the hull at the lowest point.
I think next I will rtv silicone around the perimeter of the pump support plate. Taking the plate off would require removing lots of lines and things to gain access.
I appreciate everyone’s input on this… it’s been a good learning experience.

Another question: what it the purpose of the water lines going to the OPAS paddles? They appear to function via mechanical linkage!
