I checked all these and everything is good and where it should be, battery drawl is normal, all terminals landed, plug wires snipped and spark tested.... Starter is oem as well... Will report next weekend with wet start results....

Exact same symptoms, and that's the one thing I haven't tried yet is starting it in the water... I will give it a go next weekend since I left the pair in the storage yard for the week.... I will follow up then. Battery on maintainer until then as well....

Soooooo, green tender and same results. It does that "half crank" and stops... Seadoo mechanic or for sale next move.... P.s. Rave's were beautiful...

I just checked that again last night and no it wasn't fully charged. Tender is green this morning, I'm gonna try it as soon as coffee is down the hatch!

From what I have read so far, the rave valve are hit or miss and very temperamental.. Worth rebuilding/replacing to eliminate the possibility? Lol and the valve comment, totally forgot the 2 stroke part!

With the plugs out, it cranks as it should, rapid and hard. When I put the plugs back in its almost as if there isn't enough power to overcome the compression and it does like a "half crank", where it will spin and then it seems the pressure on the cylinders build and the crank can't overcome...

Finally have a progress report, only problem is it's lacking progress lol. I checked for spark, spark is good. I also installed the oil block off and filled up with a 50:1 mix since the cylinders kept getting over saturated with oil. New plugs, cleaned air box, oil blown from cylinders and still...

Is there a better starting point that's a common failure on these puppies? Was going to try to get it started this weekend?

Any reason why you would suggest it wasn't the coil, is there a better/easier/cheaper starting point that has yielded better results in similar situations?

A little update to my situation... still couldnt get it to fire up even after a new battery and new plugs. I decided to hold a plug and see if there was spark, and there isn't... I'm going to start with the coil and go from there.. anyone recommend any type of coil specifically or go with a...

96 XP, battery doesn't seems to be lacking kick. Does anyone know what the recommended battery is for these? Is there such a thing as too many cranking amps or the more you have the better off you are?

Does the battery CCA rating matter alot on these too? The aftermarket batteries that are installed have a 220cca rating, is that too low?

It's an aftermarket starter. The starter sounds solid and feels like it has enough booty on it to turn this monster over. I'm starting to think that there is some oil on the bottom side that needs to be drawn up since it's been sitting so long. All the connections are solid and wiring all checks...

Yes, it does. With the plugs out I can hit the ignition button and it cranks as it should, rapid with full crank. I did some more Google digging, is it possible I still have to draw the oil up from the lower end via a vacuum (finger over plug holes) and crank it?
