Be sure the ground going to the engine has a good connection. Clean the end really good. If it isn;t getting a good connection it would cause this problem. Karl

Kicker is correct be sure the engine is running before you turn on the water or else the water will flood teh engine. The exhaust of the running engine keeps the water out of the engine. Karl

The timing plate has marks that align it up with the case. Set it and go. Karl

I suggest you go to any automotive store and get some Thread lock liquid and apply it to the threads of the knobs. They will only come off when you apply a bit of pressure to un-screw them. Karl
