    787 RFI low power

I dropped the engine back in and used the alignment tool. I had to remove a couple of shims to line it up so obviously it was worth doing. Got the welded pipe back and put back in but didn't manage to put the tuned pipe back in yet.

    Water in Tuned Pipe

Actually in the process of ordering one from you or your brother right now with some other 3D parts... But I also have 3 of these units so if this one was fixable I would still hang onto it. Not sure how it would even be possible to fix an internal crack.

    Water in Tuned Pipe

Ok. Thanks. I knew that there would be water in the water jacket but all the soot inside the exhaust chamber implied to me that there wouldnt be water in the exhaust chamber on that pipe or the stainless pipe that follows it, otherwise the soot would be "washed" out. If you think it will still...

    Water in Tuned Pipe

I have a 2004 Seadoo 3D with 787 RFI. While I was winterizing and pouring antifreeze into the pipe head, or tuned pipe through one of the water lines (as per the manual) I realized it never filled and found a crack in the tuned pipe on the bottom that was just dumping the antifreeze into the...

Will do. It looks pretty basic to do and I did order some shims just in case.

    787 RFI low power

I think I will pull the impeller and replace the wear ring etc while I have this thing in pieces and can hopefully put it back together confidently knowing that it has been checked over from front to back... Given that I didn't remove the engine mounts that are bolted to the hull, is checking...

    787 RFI low power

Well I cut the outer pipe off of the exhaust pipe and here is what it looks like on the inside.

    787 RFI low power

None of these extension pipes available anywhere so I'm going to cut the outer skin off of this one have the inner pipe cut out and a new one welded in and then have the outer skin welded back on and pressure tested. Really the only option right now. Spoke with a fab shop this morning and they...

    787 RFI low power

Well, @Pedec mentioned the exhaust pipe earlier as many people with the 2005 have a rubber hose that collapses. The 2004 has a stainless pipe with water jacket and a visual inspection found it to be fine both externally and using a flashlight to look down it while it was still in the ski. I ran...

    787 RFI low power

The shop, and myself were worried that since neither of us knew the history of the engine and it has not run properly since I bought it that maybe the previous owner had messed with it and not set the timing properly.

I see now that the fuel module is part of the whole sending unit that I also swapped over from the other one.

    787 RFI low power

I swapped injectors over from my good seadoo and unfortunately it didn't make a difference as well as swapping over the fuel pump. I'm not sure if I swapped the fuel module... I will have to look at it and see if I remember swapping it.

    787 RFI low power

So i took my engine into a local guy who specializes in building race engines for cars and also rebuilds regular and performance snowmobile engines. He's been going through my engine and hasn't foudn anything alarming and says everything is excellent on it and would not recommend doing a...

    787 RFI low power

Sorry everyone. Been way too busy lately and haven't had a chance to come on here. Glad you got the fuel filters figured out and sorry I didn't get back to you. I have not yet figured out the issue with this one but I found another 3d for sale close to me (7 hour drive), well close for what I'm...

How much oil inside 787 RFI

Perfect. Thank you. I didn't even think of it gravity feeding from the tank... Of course it would!

How much oil inside 787 RFI

I'm preparing my engine to send off for a rebuild and while it was on the bench and I was pulling stuff off of it, it dumped out a lot of oil. Probably half a litre, sorry, half a quart. When I put this thing back together once I get it back from rebuild, how do I get the appropriate amount of...

I will check to see if it is the same. Thanks!

    787 RFI low power

I think I will try to pressure test the exhaust pipe and see if it leaks into the water jacket.

    787 RFI low power

Yeah, I tried to run a scope camera down there and couldn't see anything, but it's pretty full of carbon. Can't find any of these pipes for sale online. I'm in Canada so that doesn't help.

Do you think it's safe to have that welded? I'm guessing the only problem I would see from the cracked pipe is getting water in the hull. Also noticed the PTO exhaust port is very oily compared to the mag side.
