Check the charging system. Put a volt meter on battery and take it for a ride. See if voltage drops at that rpm

Might just be running rich because of exhaust leak.slso your using more throttle to keep it running so that might be causing a issue with excessive oil

I have never had a 4 tec run coffee brown plugs.some of the additives in fuel turns plugs a ashy color.if no alarms are coming on no codes and it runs clean and rpms are running correct.run it stop looking for problems that are not there

Have a couple questions why are you doing a top end?how is the crankshaft?how is the counterbalance shaft how long has it been sitting?is it stock and never been apart?is it a SBT shortblock that was installed at some point

I think your head studs are upside down.im not sure of the difference in thread length but I think that center mark needs to go into the case

Don't know what you are doing but.you are doing something wrong or you are using the wrong head gasket or base gaskets.you are not by chance ordering a head gasket for a di?by mistake?or a di base gaskets?you don't have the studs for cyl not seated enough and not letting the head bolts seat?

Is it a left over brand new?or is it new to him and it's a newer model.

Put the gasket on the vts housing not the cover.a little grease around the gasket.dont put it on the cover then try and put it on.it will never go on

Get it machines flat.a few thou then find a thicker base gasket to make up for it.can do the same with the top of the cyl

You can see the discoloration in the head and the pitting.what does the deck of the cyl look like.it does not take much to leak out.

Your head is either pitted from corrosion or the cyl is leaking.dont use sealant on the gasket either.

I have been at this for 30 years and never seen nor heard about megatech or being able to change hours on a sea doo.that is tip towing on fraud.

A bolt got jammed and couldn't turn the bars?chances are it ripped or broke a wire look at the harness around where you where working

Correct hours are stored in both.budds can Doo and the SBT scan tool has ecu hours and cluster hours.when a different cluster is added you have to marry them.not sure if the older ones have to be married been a while.no program can change the hours.i believe the only way to change engine hours...
