What can cause a Mikuni Carb to lose its prime after sitting 2 hours?

I have two of these and both start and run great. BUT, start the next day and it's crank crank crank until the fuel system is primed. It then runs great again. I checked over the carbs and all looks good (including the pump check valves). EDIT: I see someone before me replaced fuel lines. I...

What can cause a Mikuni Carb to lose its prime after sitting 2 hours?

It's starting great with a little gas down the carb so I'm guessing it's not getting fuel at the jets until the pump gets it primed. Then it runs great.

What can cause a Mikuni Carb to lose its prime after sitting 2 hours?

All good advice. In this case, I have it running out of a clean container of mixed gas. I tried it choked and without choking. I can tell it's not primed because it takes quite a while to get it to fire solid (sputters and coughs until it's primed), but if I give it a splash of gas, it fires...

What can cause a Mikuni Carb to lose its prime after sitting 2 hours?

If I restart in 10 minutes, it will fire right up. If I wait a few hours, it's like I ran it out of gas. I have to crank for 3 or 4 15 second intervals before I get a sputter then it's back to normal. EDIT: I see someone before me replaced fuel lines. I don't believe there are any check...

Can a mikuni carb be tuned (high speed) like a chainsaw (richer until 4 stroking then backed off slightly)?

In a pinch, I might cut a spring as they mention in that bulletin... But much much better to just buy the right size. I once used an innertube as a fuel pump diaphragm. Got us through a fun day of fishing. It failed the next day and I ended up limping the boat home using the squeeze bulb as a...

Can a mikuni carb be tuned (high speed) like a chainsaw (richer until 4 stroking then backed off slightly)?

I like it that they mention snipping off coils from the pop off valve spring vs buying another spring. My kind of 'get the job done' mentality! In my case, pop off was at 22psi (too low) which may be part of my black spark plugs. The low mid range was a bit rich and 4 stroking. I'll have to...

Can a mikuni carb be tuned (high speed) like a chainsaw (richer until 4 stroking then backed off slightly)?

This is a single Mikuni carbed Tigershark (my first PWC bought cheap with a bad crank bearing (due to bad PTO side seal) and bad impeller bearings (both sides). I figured the carb tuning process would be similar since they use the same Mikuni square pump carb. I rebuilt the engine and impeller...

Can a mikuni carb be tuned (high speed) like a chainsaw (richer until 4 stroking then backed off slightly)?

On a chainsaw, the high speed adjustment is easy, just richen to the point sputtering under load then lean it back a bit to where the engine smooths out. Does this type of high speed tuning work on a PWC? I have read the Mikuni carb manual and understand it ok enough, but as a new pwc owner...
